I am experimenting with creating an image that might be a beautiful scarf. This image is made from watercolor and gouache over paper with a background wash that I created this morning. I did this in Joyce’s art class.
Living in South Florida, it is hard not to notice all the nautical activity around. Here is a collage of what comes to mind when I think “nautical”. I could not resist adding a few smiling fish.

Inspired by the Rio Olympics, here is a painting of Cristo Redentor overlooking Rio and Sugar Loaf Mountain, Brazil.

Today I wanted to paint lavender again. To be prepared, I even bought some dried lavender at the store yesterday and one sprig is actually attached to this painting. Then I decided to throw in a butterfly who is visiting one of the live lavenders on the painting.

My first rendition of this rabbit was awful and I tossed it . But this time, I paid close attention to his dimensions and wanted to capture his innocence. Hope that you like Buddy as much as I do. Buddy lives in Crandon Park where he hops around and makes appearances in the late afternoons.

First I did a wash with blues, greens, pinks. Then I did this flower and the reflection.

I went to the same park that I always go but this time I was told where the dragonflies hang out. I was able to find this guy in his usual spot. Earlier I had walked to the park and found the lovely, colorful butterfly. I could not believe how perfect that butterfly’s wings were.

Last week, my butterfly had odd stripes so I worked on another painting of the same subject. Also did a background wash of pretty green, yellow and turquoise colors.

Steve took this photo which I thought was so good. I was inspired by it and painted the butterfly below in an impressionistic style.
