I saw this photo of a very rare Ili Pika on the Internet. The ile pika is an hare-like mammal that apparently has not been seen in 20 years. I totally liked his face and how he just blended into the rocks.
This painting was done in my Chinese Brush Painting class–notice that I have incorporated a few new techniques of blending of colors. The painting is done on 9.5 inch by 13 inch rice paper using ink and watercolor.

Here is my attempt at painting a dog found on the Internet. The dog is named Baxter and he is always outside having a lot of fun and not upset if he gets muddy. This was done on 12″ by 18″ rice paper using a number of colored inks.

I will continue to practice Chinese Brush Painting until I get it! It is not easy… I have a lot of respect for the artists who do this so skillfully. This painting was done exclusively with black ink using an interpretive style.

I was just thinking of koalas this weekend and this guy came to mind… He is watercolor on a 5″ by 7″ watercolor paper card.
It’s the first of January, 2015. New year with existing paints. Wanting to make 2015 a happy and healthy year, who better to depict that than happy dolphins swimming toward each other? Happy new year to all my blog friends!
