Floral motif–in colors of local club.
Watercolor on 7.5″ by 9″ canvas block
Painting made in series of layers. Started with a wash of purple, white and salt. Then, added definition to create this impressionistic view of the Iris flower.
Watercolor on 10″ by 12″ Rough Paper
Painted while waiting for the big storm. Thankfully, it missed us down here. But it did not miss Haiti and that is very disappointing. Time for a contribution to Haiti and anyone else impacted. We were lucky this time.

Lately I have been fond of this breed of dog–the Havenese. They are so adorable… This is not my dog but one that I found on the web. If I found him at my door-step, he would be adopted…

Tonight begins Rosh Hashanah which is the Jewish New Year (year 5776). Time to provide some images associated with this festive holiday.

The dog is a golden doodle, inspired by a dog I saw at the market. The penguins–well, they are penguins!
I updated this painting–added more green foliage and trees to the bottom left section.
Still on the nautical theme kick. This goes back to my roots in doing collages.
Watercolor and Gouache on 12″ by 16″ Cold Pressed Paper
I did a background wash with green, yellow and blue and then did the little koala who is smiling.

Still inspired by painting nautical scenes… Here are some sailboats sailing on Biscayne Bay, Miami.

This toucan was made with watercolor paints and Brusho–concentrated crystals with a lot of water…

It’s a three day weekend and it’s hot here in Miami. So why not use the extra time to paint a nice sheep dog in snow? I feel cooler already!
Watercolor on 9″ by 12″ Rough Paper
This painting is an example of “process art”. At first I was not at all happy with it. My instructor, Joyce, suggested that I not abandon it. I added some “Brusho” to it and then some more leaves and after a while, this image emerged! At the end I liked the bold, tropical colors.
Watercolor and Gouache on 10″ by 14″ Rough Paper
I am experimenting with creating an image that might be a beautiful scarf. This image is made from watercolor and gouache over paper with a background wash that I created this morning. I did this in Joyce’s art class.
Living in South Florida, it is hard not to notice all the nautical activity around. Here is a collage of what comes to mind when I think “nautical”. I could not resist adding a few smiling fish.
