Purple Hummingbird (Taken at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Coral Gables, Florida)

I had no idea how little hummingbirds were until I saw a few at Fairchild Tropic Botanic Garden last week.  These little guys are absolutely beautiful; this painting is based on an original photo.   These birds are so fast that is almost impossible to get a photo of them.  The painting was done on 12″ by 9″ cold pressed paper entirely in watercolor.
